Eight Week Card Swap: Week 6

This week we were supposed to send some sort of a spring card with flowers or birds. I don't have any problem utilizing flowers so I wanted to try using a bird stamp from Rubber Stampede. I have had this stamp for about 6 years and never used it. My original intent was to stamp it onto a painted wooden plate, but I guess I never got around to doing it!

It is mostly monochromatic with an accent color. I used SU Groovy Guava and Purely Pomegranate. I also used Groovy Guava designer paper at the bottom. The other thing I did was to use a Spica glitter pen to draw over all the lines of the bird and branch to add a light spakle and I sprayed Gold Tattered Angel Glimmer Mist over the card. It is really hard to see the glitter pen or the glimmer mist even in the close-up picture. Anyway, you get the idea!

Eight Week Card Swap: Week 5

This week was to make a card using flowers. I used SU 8x8 pattern paper and whisper white for stamping the flowers at the bottom and I stamped the sentiment on a piece of the same pattern paper.

Baby and Graduation

These two cards were needed quickly so I didn't write down all the details for each one.

The baby card used Wild Wasabi cs by SU and the SU stamp set called Cuddles & Tickles. I used Copic markers to color the baby and used my Nestabilities dies.

The graduation card was stamped using a stamp from Inkadinkado, Inc. And the paper and mat was by Basic Grey. I also used the Copic markers to add the color to the stamped image.

I've been busy moving one of my daughters so my stamping has sort of fallen behind. Hopefully I'll be able to get back on track sometime this week! I know I've got to come up with an idea for my weekly card swap so that will be in production very soon.

Although the art work has been produced rather slowly, I appreciate your taking a look to see what I've been up to!

Eight Week Card Swap: Week 4

Eyelets, eyelets, another one of those collected things that I must have at least a million. It's really hard to decide which ones to use. I came up with a bunch of ideas, and I decided on a colorful one. I set these with the crop-o-dile. I used to set eyelets with one of those tools that you first pound to get the hole, then switch the end of the tool and it sets the eyelet. It was very noisy because I used a metal meat pounder to hit the end of the tool. Now I can set eyelets in a peaceful manner!

Mother's Day Card

This Mother's Day card was made with a 10" x 7" transparency sheet then scored and folded to make a 5x7 card. One thing I have found with transparencies is that your hands need to be really clean and free of lotions or oils because it's really easy to get "smudges" and finger prints on the transparency and they are hard to get off. There may be a trick to it that I just haven't figured out yet! I am also going to be experimenting with different transparency stock. The one I've been using has felt sort of "grainy". That may be a good thing when stamping directly onto the stock. The brand I've been using is Hammermill - 4 mil thickness. The next one I'll experiment with is 3M Write-On Transparency Film. It doesn't show the thickness on the box so hopefully it's strong enough to stand up for a day or two. Eight Week Card Swap: Week 3

This week we need to use buttons on a card. I have tons of buttons, but I never really knew what to do with them. I bought packs and packs of them some years ago, and here they sit waiting to be used on something beautiful. After I started on the card, I realized that all my buttons did not go with my color theme, so I went and bought clear flat square buttons in 4 sizes by Tim Holtz. As you can see I didn't use those either! Aaaggghh! More buttons I don't need!! Do you have any suggestions on how to use buttons or links to great button cards? I think I'll need to paint my existing buttons since I don't like the colors anymore! (They are pale colors and jewel tones.)

I didn't even know where to start on this card and it shows that the buttons were one of the last thoughts on the card. I wanted them to blend in so I took some pale green buttons and colored them with my Manganese Blue Copic marker. It gives a mottled appearance, but I like it. Then I colored some hemp with the same marker and dabbed some crystal effects on top to hold the knot.


I really like the look of transparencies so I decided that the card would be a transparency pocket card. I just went with the flow to see what would happen.
The two pictures have completely different color casts so I guess that's Photoshop! (definitely NOT the person using Photoshop!-I think I need a little more practice... :) The second card shows part of the transparency pulled out from the pocket.

Supplies: 10x7 piece of transparency to fit an A7 envelope.
