Black and White and New Nestabilities

Swap Topic: Black and White

I have a black and white swap coming up with one of my groups and I really wanted to use some of my new nestabilities for my swap. I also needed an anniversary card, so I decided to make two cards with different sentiments.

Just a Little Note and a Valentine...

Swap Topic: Die Cut

Utilizing a die cut somewhere on your card is not too difficult especially when you own a GOB of them! Also, I used gold "Smooch" on the top of the embossing on the background mat.

This adorable squirrel valentine came from Joy and I just had to share her artwork! Thanks for stopping by and for the emails!

Happy **Heart** Day

This year while making these cards, my mind went WAY, WAY back to 7th grade when we would have a Valentine's Day Lunch Box Social. The girls would make a yummy lunch, put the lunch into an oversized shoe box and then decorate the box. The boys would bring a couple of dollars, mostly in coins, and they would bid on the boxes. Now, the boys were not supposed to know which girl decorated which box, but you know how that usually works! **wink** Then they would enjoy the lunch together. And somehow the boy always knew what kind of lunch he was getting....hmmm...wonder how he knew that too??!! Anway it was a lot of fun during lunch hour.

These cards were a lot of fun and all the center hearts are watercolor paper cut with Nesties, watercolored, then doodled and embellished.
Of course, the cute owl was for my friend Joy since she loves to use them in her artwork!

I hope your V-owl-entine's Day is special.

Copic Colored Rooster

Swap Topic: Animal

I think my swap partner will like the farm animal I sent to her this week. I used 13 copic markers to color this guy. I started off with light colors so it wouldn't be so dark from the beginning since you can't easily add highlights back in. I practiced on three examples and I printed a photo off the internet to help with the color choices.
Don't you love the french script mat layer behind it??!!

Cricut Cupcake Card

These two photos are of the same card only it was photographed on different backgrounds. This card is for my niece Mikayla. She turns 8 at the end of the week and I've got to get out and do some shopping for her. She said that she would like "penguin" clothes. This is something new to me so I asked her "where do you buy "penguin" clothes"? She said she saw them at Kohl's when she was out shopping with Grandma. OK...Good! At least I know she didn't mean something like a penguin costume.. or clothes for a stuffed penguin. My gosh its been so long since I've had little girls that this really threw me for a loop! So as soon as our 8" of snow is melted..hopefully by Wednesday I can get out and do some shopping.

Create art everyday!!

I don't know why, but this edit is placing the typing right next to the pink background card...AARRGGGHHH...no matter how many returns I add to the text!
**EDIT**BEFORE POSTING**
Down below you will see my edited card. I found a cute penguin in my collection, so I decided to add him to Mikayla's birthday card. Also, I got out to do my shopping and there were no penguin clothes available at Kohl's anymore, so I did the next best thing: I shopped at Amazon. That is one of my new favorite places to shop! I found a cute *multiple* penguin t-shirt and a cute book about "Tacky" the penguin. So she is set! I've received them and all I have to do is mail it off to the birthday girl!

Inchie Faces

Swap Topic: People
People and faces are sometimes hard to color with copic markers. I think the skin colors turned out well on this card.
I used photoshop to try and show this card at its best, but you are seeing a bad interpretation of the colors in the background paper. The photo also fails to show the glossy accents and glitter pens that I used. I should have done some macro shots of those things with extra lighting...it was late and I was tired...next time......:O)
