Sunflower

This card is an exercise in using detail embossing powder and Twinkling H2O's on dark cardstock. Today there is a lot of embellishment of cards on websites, but this one is very simplistic. I just added a gold mat to this black card. This is another beautiful way to add shimmer and sparkle to your art. I have had all of these supplies on hand for quite some time! I am beginning to think 2008 is my year to reacquaint myself with all the old things that are now new in my accessory bins. I have no idea what cardstock I used, but I think it turned out pretty good. Well, I'm off to do more experimenting!

Friends Always

Okay, so this is something completely new and different for me! I am afraid there is going to be a long learning curve on how to "blog". I definitely do not have the gift of "gab" so writing is going to be equally difficult. This blog is mostly for my creative outlet. Also, I am hoping this will be much easier than sending photos to those who want to see what I have made. Since I live in the country, I look at lots of beautiful creative things on the internet and am inspired by them. I am a paper-crafting junkie and my creative domain is filled with rubberstamps, watercolors, pens and paper and cardstock galore! (And all the accessories to help produce my type of art!) I am definitely still learning how to compose things so many of my pictures will probably show my baby steps in growing as an artist. I believe we are all artists, we just need to keep trying to improve our results!
The above going away card was made for my daughter to give to her best friend. Ashleigh is going away to pursue her career on the east coast. After this card was done, I realized that I really needed to ground the girls. They have some shading at their feet, so I am saying they are floating in the clouds! One of my favorite quotes is: "CREATIVITY is allowing oneself to make mistakes. ART is knowing which ones to keep". ...Scott Adams
Some I keep, and some I should have thrown away and started over! Anyway, they are still expressions of art.
Thank you for looking!
